Our very first Istanbul daytrip is to an area that’s probably on your bucket list: Sultanahmet!

But we won’t be seeing just the Sultanahmet Mosque, that you may also know as the Blue Mosque; Hagia Sophia and Basilica Cistern is also on our route. Those three historical buildings, all located on the Sultanahmet Square, are some of the most important landmarks of Istanbul, and consequently, are major tourist spots.

We will see the majestic Hagia Sophia that was originally built as a church and was later turned into a mosque when the Ottomans conquered the city in the 15th century. This building that has been defying time, and its Roman Catholic frescoes inside will mesmerize you.
Afterwards, the Sultanahmet, or the Blue Mosque will be visited. It is the only mosque that was originally built with 6 minarets, and its beautiful blue tiles are quite a sight!
Lastly, you will see the Basilica Cistern, which was built underground to provide water to the city in the event of a siege.

Hoping to see you on this lovely trip!
