We will start our weekend city tours with one of the most historically rich areas of Istanbul: Sultanahmet!
We bet that when someone says Istanbul, Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque are the first things that pop up in your mind. Those, and the Basilica Cistern, are all conveniently located around the Sultanahmet Square.
First we will visit the impressive Sultanahmet aka Blue Mosque, the only mosque that was originally built with six minarets.
Later, we will visit the stunning Hagia Sophia, a church that became a mosque in the 15th century when the Ottomans conquered the city.
And then the Basilica Cistern, the largest ancient cistern built to provide water to the city in the cases of siege.
While enjoying the old Istanbul we will not only see the Ottoman culture but also taste some of the classic Turkish foods!
