We are thrilled to announce our Üsküdar & Maiden’s Tower Trip!
We will start our trip on this beautiful sunny Saturday, in Üsküdar at 11.00 AM on the 7th of April and afterwards we will see the magnificent Maiden’s Tower up close and personal!
Maiden’s Tower, or Kız Kulesi, is an ancient site in Istanbul located on a tiny islet in the middle of Bosphorus Strait that has quite a bit of speculations about it. The origin of the tower isn't completely known, leading to legends such as one attesting that it was built to lock away a princess after it was prophesized she would die from a snake bite on her 18th birthday – hence the name Maiden’s Tower. She still gets bitten on the day of her 18th birthday by a snake hiding inside a basket of apples that was gifted to her.
The story might be sad, but we sure will have a lot of fun!
